This two-day, one-night event will feature hands-on inoculation workshops, guided hikes led by mushroom experts, exciting fungus forays, family-friendly activities, dehydration demonstrations, camping, and much more!
This gathering is a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone is encouraged to explore the fascinating world of fungi and strengthen their connection to Appalachian Ohio. Attendees may come for the mushrooms, but they’ll stay for the friendships and sense of community they discover along the way.
Storytelling Camp: Writing in Place

Rural Action’s Environmental Education Team, in partnership with Appalachian Understories, is excited to present the first-ever Storytelling Camp: Writing in Place! This multi-day camp, August 4th-8th, invites kids ages 9–13 to discover the art of storytelling, explore the outdoors, and uncover the past.

An Audio & Movement Journey for Strouds Run State Park
Homing is a site-specific audio installation and participatory performance score for Strouds Run State Park in Athens, OH. Through a guided audio experience, Homing invites participants to bring awareness to attention, sensation, and movement in relationship to the local landscape.
